AI is here to stay! I remember when teachers worried that Google would encourage students to cheat and become lazy. Now, we can’t imagine helping students research without it. It’s as essential as books in our teaching toolbox. We teach students how to ask the right questions, find credible sources, and use Google efficiently and responsibly. Reflecting on this, I wonder how we can apply these lessons to AI, which has subtly integrated into our lives through tools like Alexa, smart appliances, robot vacuums ❤️, and apps like Grammarly, each incorporating AI at varying levels of complexity.
Many fear that AI will replace human jobs, but like it or not, our students will face AI also after they leave school. So, how do we integrate it into our education systems effectively? How do we harness AI as a tool for learning, not just an answer machine? In this post, I’ll share a few strategies and tools to implement AI responsibly in primary schools. It seemed essential to integrate those skills with the PYP approaches to learning and include a few considerations in terms of ethical use.
